Finance and investment strategies for SMEs | APID
The objective of the project is to guarantee an excellent level of financial and investment skills to women entrepreneurs. The expected results are linked to the greater financial and investment awareness of the women entrepreneurs involved. Indeed, the aim is better understand the services and financial products, anticipate the financial choices and needs of the company, as well as better manage personal and company financial activities.
Project digiTALL | APID
The general objective of the project is to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem adaptable to the digital revolution and ready for an innovative transformation of its businesses. More specifically, it aims at the dissemination of digital techniques and technologies to support local SMEs, and the increase of digital skills in businesses owned by women. It also fosters the birth of new digitalised and digital businesses as well as promotes STEM and entrepreneurial careers among young women.

Brussels, Belgium. On the occasion of the celebration the International Day of Rural Women, our member COPA COGECA organised an event in the European Parliament from 16:30 to 18:30 in meeting room P4B001. The crucial role that women play in ensuring the sustainability of rural households and communities, improving rural livelihoods and overall well-being has been increasingly recognized. However, rural women still face several challenges and one the most relevant is education. Access to proper education and vocational training is essential to help to close the employment gap, to promote women empowerment, ensure generation renewal in agriculture and the sustainable development of rural areas. The event aimed at fostering the discussion in a way that we can understand which are the major obstacles and best practices followed across EU to promote women education and their settlement in rural areas. New study by DELOITTE focuses on IT sector glass ceiling
WEP’s partner, Deloitte, has released a study on the glass ceiling slowing down women to access high positions in the IT sector and is described by women Chief Information Officers themselves. Although the number of female CIOs is much higher than the ones of CEOs and CFOs, struggles to advance further in the hierarchy are real and unequal compared to a man’s career evolution. Read more.

Over 500 women-owned businesses from 60 countries across the world participated to the SheTrades Global event in search of new trade and investment opportunities last June. KAGIDER participated as a delegation to SheTrades representing Turkey. During her speech, KAGIDER President Sanem Oktar stressed that “Trade does not have a gender!” and invited countries to collaborate on developing our society. Apid Torino working toward engaging more women in angel investing
Apid is working on the project SEEWBAN (Southern East Europe Women Business Angel Network) co-financed by the European Union. Specifically, the project will create a consortium of Women Business Angels from Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Hungary, Scotland and Italy. Their first step is to identify the success factors and challenges of women business angels and then concrete measures will be proposed in order to overcome obstacles and increase the pool of business angels in Europe. A seminar enitled “Women’s participation in the workforce in Turkey and the EU: The other side of the mirror” was organized by WEP’s member KAGIDER and the European Parliament Turkey Forum took place on 21 June in the European Parliament. Hosted and moderated by S&D MEP Kati Piri (European Parliament's rapporteur on Turkey) and organized with the support of WEP, Ms Sanem Oktar, President of KAGIDER made an opening speech, followed by Nur Ger, UN Women’s Empowerment Principles, Business Advocate and founding member of KAGIDER, Mary Collins, European Women's Lobby and Claire Courteille, Director, ILO-Brussels made very valuable speeches. JA Europe organises European Summit for Entrepreneurship Education

JA Europe organised a European Summit for Entrepreneurship Education from 11 to 12 July in Brussels. Organised under the umbrella of the European Network for Entrepreneurship Education (EE-HUB), this was the 1st European Entrepreneurship Education Summit that gathered academics and experts in entrepreneurship education, policy-makers and government officials, educators, business and NGOS representatives. The event combined plenary and practical workshops. The Summit took place in parallel with the 28th Company of the Year Competition organised by JA Europe where the best young entrepreneurs from across Europe were celebrated. National winning mini-companies, comprised of JA Alumni aged 15 to 18 years old competed in this European final. Read more...

Women's Enterprise Scotland shares top business angel tips with European counterparts
Women’s Enterprise Scotland (WES) hosted the prestigious South-East Europe Women’s Business Angel Network (SEEWBAN) at a two-day event in Edinburgh, looking at how to improve access to finance for women-led businesses. WES - the not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) which focuses on the contribution women's enterprise makes to the Scottish economy. Representatives from the seven countries will attend the two-day summit, hosted by law firm Maclay Murray Spens at their Quartermile offices. Access to finance is regularly cited as a challenge for women starting up in business. In research conducted by WES in 2016, 48% of respondents said they were looking for financial support. Business angel investing is an essential source of funding, especially for early stage and start-up businesses. Read more...

AFAEMME participates in the 15th International Logistic Exhibition
Within the International Logistics and Material Handling Exhibition (SIL) 2017 conference, the Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) hosted the 15th annual Mediterranean Transport & Logistics Summit (MedaLogistics). The two-day event was jointly organized with the Consorci of Barcelona and supported by the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce and Industry. AFAEMME's President, Maria Helena de Felipe, participated in a panel discussion on women entrepreneurs in the world of logistics and transport. In this context, Maria Helena de Felipe was responsible for moderating the roundtable entitled "Businesswomen of the Mediterranean in the areas of logistics and transport: Towards equal opportunities.” Read more...

Professional Women’s Network Proposes a Decalogue of Measures to Increase Female Presence in Management Positions
Professional Women’s Network|PWN Madrid proposes a Decalogue to educators, government, media, companies and other sectors of society, in order to increase women’s presence in management positions. Although women work in 24% of management positions, Spain faced a stagnant growth in this area during the last 5 years. “Nowadays the talent is the fuel of our society and our companies. We cannot afford leaving 50% of it offside. It has been proved that an increase of diversity stimulates productivity and efficiency of organizations”, affirmed Raquel Cabezudo, President of PWN Madrid, during the event organized by this association with the main goal to call the attention to the need of encouragement of female leadership in our country.
